About Us
A brand and campaign to ignite conversations, build connections and remind us to be KY-ND
Why?
Our aim is to build awareness… encouraging us to be KY-ND to OURSELVES and KY-ND to OTHERS!
We live in a fast paced, consumer driven world. Social media and the internet has brought the world closer. We are able to be global without leaving our homes. We can gather information, follow friends, family and celebrities all over the world …we are more connected than ever before. But are we?
We follow, respond to, and ‘like’ aspects of people and events that we admire and may even aspire to be… But these are surface, transactional and non-reciprocal connections.
Connection
Connection is so much more than likes and follows on social media. It is the various emotive feelings, and energy that you experience when you are physically present with someone.
The moments you react and respond to when coming into contact face-to-face. It is the social interaction of being truly present, and the amazing advantages of mixing with people you don’t know.
It is learning the ability to overcome social anxieties, improve listening, learning to read non-verbal signals and when to appropriately respond.
These are all aspects of Life that are vital and deeply needed in order to feel connected.
Engaging in real conversations with people without worrying about what you look like on a screen. We have never scrutinised ourselves so much as we do today in our onscreen, face-time presence. This is not healthy for our mental space.
We are more connected technically, and yet the world has never been more divided, isolated and crippled by ‘loneliness’.
We play games on our screens, but forget the value of meeting to kick a ball, have a coffee or go for a walk outside in the sunshine or rain.
Our mental health is struggling, we are struggling, our children are struggling.
We comment so easily online and on various social media platforms, voicing our opinions, without being cognisant of the impact these comments can have on others.
It is so much easier to be mean behind a screen, than face to face.
And you often find others that feel the same and the hate becomes bolder and more intense and permanent.
Is this a world we want for our Children?
Encourage people to own their words and realise that words matter … so make them KY-ND.
What we say has an impact on others
We live in a tough world and there are so many challenges that face us, it can be overwhelming.
But if we find meaning and a purpose each day, if we open ourselves up to opportunities and experiences that improve our self-awareness and self- confidence, we start a journey of becoming a better version of ourselves.
It is cyclical.
Let’s live intentionally with meaning and purpose.
Live authentically
Ok. Not ok.
It is ok to say that you are not ok. If we say it, we own it and we can change it!
Live authentically.
Just be KY-ND. It takes a lot more energy to be unkind, and it doesn’t make you feel any better. If you don’t have something KY-ND to say that is ok, but then rather stay silent.
Words matter…Words heal, but they can also wound. Some words hurt more than we can ever imagine.
Let’s grow in KY‑NDness
Let’s spread KY-ND and put down strong, supportive roots.
If our roots and foundation are KY-ND we will feel better about ourselves and this in turn means we can help to make others feel good. Hereby initiating the domino effect. KY-NDNESS is contagious!
KY-ND… teach it, live it, just be it… KY‑NDness costs nothing, but means everything!
I hope that by wearing KY-ND, conversations will be ignited. For a lot of us just having to enter a room full of people is intimidating.
Some of us don’t like small talk, some of us don’t know what to say. By wearing KY-ND I am hoping that it helps to start a chat about KY-ND and how the world needs KY-NDness!
The start of the conversation is always the hardest, so I hope that our apparel can help initiate connections and conversations.
As parents we need to teach our children to be KY-ND.
KY-ND firstly to themselves and then to others. Let them know that they are one of a KY-ND and that uniqueness is to be celebrated!
It doesn’t matter how you spell KY-ND, just know that it will make the world of difference and a lasting impression on someone if you practice it.
Let’s get this KY-ND movement started…
